Major update and Future Roadmap
Wave Function Collapse » Devlog
Hi everyone, it’s been a few months since the initial upload and I thought it was time to revisit this project. Since last time, I’ve read much more about algorithms so I would like to apologize because the previous implementation wasn’t really using a wave function collapse algorithm. It was indeed useful to generate a map, but I’ve decided to redo the script to properly implement a version of it. It was a bit stressful, but I think I got it to work just fine.
New stuff:
- Tile Probability UI: I’ve also added a UI to allow users to modify the probability of different tiles which can be modified during the map’s generation.
- Screenshots: If you download the repo and run the game on your own, you should be able to take a screenshot which is saved in your files. This will allow you to export the generated maps.
To do:
- Screenshots for web: I don’t know yet how screenshots work for web, so I’ll try to read and implement it properly so you don’t have to download it.
- Variable map size: write now the map has fixed dimensions, but I think it would be nice if you could select your own map size.
